On October 6th, 2004, the Royal Government of Cambodia took a major step to formally introduce the Government Administration Information System (GAIS) into the daily work of the government. The ultimate goal of the system is to better serve the public.
Before the system could be put into use, thousands of meters of cable were installed in and between the 24 ministries, in and between the 7 districts (khan), in and between the 76 communes (sangkat) of Phnom Penh City, in and between the 5 exchange stations. These laborious networking tasks were successfully completed by the network team.
Following the welcoming remarks, H.E. Lee Han Gon, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea congratulated the Royal Government of Cambodia for taking this major step and for the successfully implementation of the project. His congratulatory remarks was noted by all participants.
Following the congratulatory remarks, Samdech Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Royal Government of Cambodia addressed the audiences. His inaugural remarks to officially commence the system included advices and recommendations for the National Information Communications Technology Development Authority (NiDA)
To conclude this auspicious event the Prime Minister and the Ambassador, and all participants proceeded to the ribbon cutting and to view the demonstration by each individual teams.
