OSS Localization Workshop
Background
Localization has been defined as the most exciting challenge item in past AOSS-Symposium.The statement indicates that there are many things to do for the localization of OSS in Asia.On the other hands, different sources say that the localized products are already available in most of the Asian countries such as Vietnam and Cambodia.
These are controversial information. One says that Asian needs to do localization activities and another is saying that the localization is already done. Which is a real case?
One of the goal of the AOSS is to provide the localized OSS products for Asian countries. And AOSS needs to create its localization strategy and action plans to make achieve the goal. But the controversial status information prohibits to create solid workable and effective strategy and tactics to tackle this eternal issue tocreating a plan.
The best case, we need to do nothing more, the goal is already achieved. The worst case, we may need to restart the OSS localization work from the scratch.Nobody knows which direction should we take yet. The objective of the workshop is to acquire information for develop the real plan.
In fact, all of Asian countries have had some kind of localized IT solution for this 10 years already.Unfortunately, the localized solutions were never be accepted by broad market. Thus, the same story have been repeated again over again. Asian countries can not afford this kind of sad history for future.Actually, the inventors of the solutions are kept saying that it is done already, and others are saying that it is not done yet.
